The latest book by Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan presents India’s Northeast not merely as a frontier, but as the country’s natural bridge to Southeast Asia. Drawing on years of engagement with the region, particularly through service with the Assam Rifles, the book explores the Northeast’s deep historical, cultural, economic and strategic connections with Myanmar and the wider Indo-Pacific. It argues for transforming geography into connectivity, commerce and enduring partnerships while strengthening national integration, development and security. The book was released at the United Service Institution of India, New Delhi, on 30 September 2026 by General Anil Chauhan, former Chief of Defence Staff, marking an important milestone in a wider conversation on India’s Act East Policy.
